All Bylaws, traditions and policies approved by Park Windsor Church are subject to the authority of Scripture and are made in accordance with standard Baptist beliefs and in line with our adopted church covenant. We also see ourselves as those that have been changed by God to offer Jesus Christ to all who will believe that we have peace, power, progress, prosperity and eternal life through the finishing work of our Lord on Calvary’s Cross. Ultimately, we see ourselves as reasonable facsimiles of Jesus Christ placed here on the earth for purpose of:
• Worshipping God in Spirit and in Truth
• Witnessing for the Lord through Evangelism
• Working for the Lord through Christian service
The following statements summarize what Park Windsor Baptist Church believes:
The Bible:
We believe in the infallible, verbal inspiration of the whole Bible and that the Bible is the all-sufficient rule of faith and practice (Psalm 119:160; 2 Tim. 3:16, 17). We believe all sixty-six (66), books were written by men who were under the influence and power of the Holy Spirit (I Cor. 2:7-14; I Pet. 1:20-21). As the Word of God, the Bible is the only and final authority in matters of faith and practice. Matt. 5:18; Heb. 4:1; John 10:35; 16:12-13
The Triune God:
We believe in the personal triune God: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, equal in divine perfection (Deut. 6:4; Isa. 45:5-7; I Cor. 8:4-6; Matt. 28:19) who is an infinite, intelligent Spirit (John 4:24), perfect in all His attributes, one in essence but eternally existing, and manifested in all three persons.
The Fall of Humanity and Sin:
We believe that humanity was created in holiness under the Law of God, created in His image and likeness, free of sin with reasoning capabilities, intelligence, the ability to make choices, and moral responsibility, but by voluntary transgression fell from that Holy state. As a consequence, humanity is now sinful and is in need of a Savior in order to be redeemed from this condition. Man, on his own, has no power to recover from the effect of sin apart from Christ’s saving work (Gen. 1:27; 3:6-24; Rom. 3:23; 6:23; 5:19; John 3:36; Eph. 2:1-3).
Salvation:
We believe that sinners are saved solely through the grace of Jesus Christ, the Son of God, who by appointment of the Father, freely took upon himself our nature, yet without sin, and died for us making a full atonement for our past, present and future transgressions. We believe by placing one’s faith in Christ and the power of His blood, the person receives salvation and deliverance from sin’s power and penalty. We further believe that once a person is saved, he/she is kept by God’s power and is therefore secure in Christ forever (John 3:3; 5:24; 14:6; Rom. 10:9; Eph. 2:5; Phil. 2:6, 7; Isa. 53:4, 5; Heb. 1:8; 7:25).
The Church:
We believe that the church is the united, spiritual body of which Christ is the head (Eph. 1:22; 4:15). The church is made up of all who place their faith in Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior, and who are now experiencing new life in Him, and working to fulfill His mission. We believe that the church exists to glorify God (Eph. 3:21), by building itself up in the faith (Eph. 4:13-16), instruction in God’s Word (II Tim. 2:2; 15; 3:16-17), fellowship (Acts 2:42), keeping the ordinances (Luke 22:19), and communicating the gospel to the entire world (Matt. 28:19-20; Acts 1:8). God equips each believer with special abilities for the building up of the Body of Christ, and the accomplishment of the work of Christ in the world (Rom. 12:3-8; I Pet. 4:10-11).
The Ordinances of the Church:
We believe that the Scriptures identify two Church ordinances: Baptism and Communion (the Lord’s Super). Baptism, according to Baptist belief, is the immersion of a believer in water to show forth the believer’s faith in the crucified, buried and risen Savior. Baptism signifies our death to sin and our resurrection to a new life. Baptism is therefore a symbolic act that should occur after a believer professes faith in Jesus and has received salvation. Baptism is a prerequisite to receive Communion.
Communion is the second Church Ordinance whereby believers come together to receive bread representing the Lord’s body, and the Fruit of the vine, symbolizing the Lord’s blood. This commemorative act is illustrative of the Lord’s sacrifice on the cross at Calvary for our sins (Matt.28:19; Acts 8:36-39; I Cor. 11:23-29).
Eschatology (last things):
We believe the Scriptures teach that the end of the world is approaching; that at the last day, Christ will descend from heaven, and raise the dead from the grave for final retribution; that a solemn separation will then take place; that the wicked (unsaved) will be adjudged to endless punishment, and the righteous (saved) to endless joy; and that this judgment will fix forever the final state of men in heaven or hell, on principles of righteousness (Matt. 25:41-46; I Cor. 15:50-54; I Thess. 4:14-17).
